3.0mm ABS filament
About ABS filament
ABS (Acrylonitril-butadieen-styreen) filament is first material used for 3D printing. This is because ABS is a very well known material. It's all around us in everyday life in the shape of plastic buckets, light switches, children's toys, etc. ABS can withstand (almost) all sorts of weather. Snow, rain, sun, cold. This makes ABS an excellent material for outdoor uses. ABS is strong, but stays a bit flexible after printing. This causes it to bend before breaking. Lego bricks are the best example of this. Items printed with ABS filament can be post processed with acetone. This gives them a smooth finish and a nice shine.
Advantages of ABS:
- Items 3D printed with ABS filament are strong, but still a bit flexible.
- Items 3D printed with ABS filament are resistant to almost all weather conditions.
- Items 3D printed with ABS filament can be post processed with acetone.
Why choose 3mm ABS filament?
3mm or 2.85mm filament is used by some of 3D printer manufacturers such as: Printrbot and Ultimaker. Many Reprap 3D printers also use this filament.
