PLA (Poly lacticacid) is a biodegradable filament made of corn starch, tapioca or sugarcane.
It is one of the most commonly used materials for 3D printing.
This tryout pack consists of:
20 meters of 1.75 mm PLA in each of 5 colours.
Advantages of PLA:
PLA can be used with food wares.
PLA does not require a heated bed for printing.
PLA is stiff and strong.
Disadvantages of PLA:
PLA products don't last as long, because PLA is biodegradable.
PLA gets weak at around 55 °C. This is a lot sooner than for example the 90 °C it takes for ABS to weaken.
Printing PLA does require active cooling of your hot end.
